'as well, too and also'

What's the difference between them?

These words are all used to show similarity, and the only difference is in their placement in the sentence.


Look at this examples:

John plays golf. Ana plays golf, too.

John plays golf. Ana also plays golf.

John plays golf. Ana plays golf as well.


So remember:

  1. too and as well are used at the end of a sentence. (As well is more formal than too, and we do not use a comma)

  2. also goes before the verb or adjective that you want to highlight.


As you can see, there are many correct ways to say the same thing!
