Do we say 'important for me' or 'important to me'?
Do you know which one is right? Well, here's the explanation...

Both are correct! But it depends on what you want to express.
Cambridge dictionary gives us the following definition of important:
necessary or of great value.
Now let's study the following 2 examples given by Cambridge dictionary:
I think his career is more important to him than I am.
It's important for children to learn to get on with each other.
In the first example, we are talking about how he values his career; whereas in the second one, we are mentioning one of the social skills that is necessary for children to develop.
