Difference between -ISE, -ICE endings

There are pairs of words with just one letter difference in their ending.


The words on the left are VERBS; the ones on the right are NOUNS.


The verbs are spelt with an "s". The nouns are spelt with a "c".




Can you write the correct word in each pair of sentences?

Both are pronounced the same /ˈpræktɪs/

But Americans use practice as both noun and verb.

There's a difference in pronunciation between the noun and the verb: advise is pronounced /ədˈvaɪz/ whereas advice is pronounced /ədˈvaɪs/

license-licence

In USA license is both the noun and a verb.

In UK license is a verb related in BUSINESS language (law, commerce, government, IT).
